Hydroseeding cost per acre

Hydroseeding Cost per Acre

Hydroseeding cost per acre around Perth is about $9,000 for open ground that's ready to spray, or roughly $2.25 per square metre. The rate drops as the area grows, and anything beyond 10,000m² is $1 per m², so large sites cost far less per metre than a backyard.

Prices by area

Hydroseeding cost by area
AreaSquare metresTypical price
Half an acreabout 2,000m²about $5,000
One acreabout 4,050m²about $9,000
One hectare10,000m²about $21,000
Five acresabout 20,000m²about $31,000

These figures use our standard tiers: $2.50 per m² for the first 2,000m², $2 per m² up to 10,000m², and $1 per m² beyond. They're for open ground ready to spray. Prep is quoted on top.

What's included

  • A seed blend for how the area is used: lawn, pasture or a low-maintenance native mix
  • Fibre mulch, fertiliser and tackifier
  • Spraying the whole area evenly, including banks and awkward corners

Clearing, ripping, rock picking and fencing stock out are priced separately, because they vary so much from block to block.

What pushes the price up

  • Dam walls and steep batters, which need a heavier mulch rate or matting
  • Ground that needs weed control or soil improver first
  • A long way to a water refill
  • Lots of small, separate areas instead of one open one

Hydroseeding or dry seeding?

Broadcasting dry seed is cheaper per acre, and on flat, sheltered paddocks it can be the right call. Hydroseeding earns its price where seed would otherwise blow away or dry out: loose sand, slopes, dam walls and hot exposed ground. See hydroseeding for acreage for how we handle large sites.
