How the calculator works

Hydroseeding is priced in tiers: $2.50 per m² for the first 2,000m², $2 per m² up to 10,000m² and $1 per m² beyond, so the average rate falls as the area grows. Roll-on lawn is shown at about $20 per m², supplied and laid, which is typical for Perth. The hydroseeding rate is for a standard seed blend on soil that's ready to spray.

The figures are a guide: your fixed quote comes after a free site check.

How to measure your lawn

You don't need to be exact. Measure the length and width of the area in metres and multiply them. For an L-shaped yard, split it into two rectangles and add them together, then take off garden beds, paths and the shed.

  • A small front yard is usually 30–60m²
  • A typical Perth backyard is 80–150m²
  • Small lots in new estates often have less than 100m² of lawn in total

Why roll-on lawn costs more

Roll-on lawn is grown on a farm, then cut, trucked and laid by hand, and you pay for every step. Hydroseeding sprays seed straight onto your soil in one visit, so most of the cost is materials. The trade-off is time: a seeded lawn takes about six weeks to its first mow.

What the calculator can't see

The biggest price changes come from the site itself. Water-repellent sand, rubble, weeds, tight access or a steep slope can all add to the job, and each is listed separately in your quote. Our hydroseeding cost guide explains them, with sample prices.

Pricing a large area

The calculator has no upper limit, so type any area. The larger-property calculator under it also shows acres, hectares and the price per acre, which is handier for big sites. See hydroseeding cost per acre for more on paddocks and large blocks.
