Heavier soil inland

Pinjarra is a historic town on the Murray River, about 20 minutes inland from Mandurah, with new estates on its edges and farms all around.

Away from the coast, much of the ground is heavier loam and clay on the river flats. It holds water better than sand, but compacts easily and can stay wet in winter.

What we recommend for Pinjarra blocks

• Loosening and levelling heavier soil before spraying
• A hard-wearing lawn blend around the house
• Pasture or native mixes on larger areas
• Spring or early-autumn spraying, once the ground has dried enough

Spraying around the river flats

Blocks close to the Murray River can stay damp well into spring. We wait until the ground can be worked without compacting it, then prepare and spray. That usually means a later spring date than on the coast, and it gives a better result than rushing.
